Commer Fire Engine 302 BAO

Our Commer Carmichael petrol-engined fire engine, 302 BAO was commissioned on 30th July 1960 serving Cumberland & Westmorland Fire Brigade. In those days it was classified as a WrT (Water Tender).

Its history is still being researched but it is believed to have started out as a Workington based machine . It is known that her last allocation was at Walney Island (Barrow): a day crewed station and was disposed of on 19th July 1977. Evidence obtained from the V5 seems to suggest that she was owned by Iggesunds for a time before passing into private ownership . It was donated to the trust in January 2006 and since that time work has been progressing on returning it to roadworthy condition
