Dock Shunters

A Gallery of photographs of locomotives used around the Prince of Wales Dock, Workington.

There has always been a close relationship between the port of Workington and the Iron & Steel industry. Imports of iron ore and export of rails and steel sleepers to world markets meant that the two industries were dependent upon each other. Whilst the port and the Iron & Steel works owned and operated their own locomotives, they could often be seen on the other's property.
